As a Youth Talent Advisor, you will meet with High school students who need additional support in their employment opportunities and planning for their future (through the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) that lead to long term, self-sufficient employment.

We provide career counseling, paid work experience and internships for credits to students currently attending school.  South Coast Business envisions communities where all individuals can thrive – where we lead by example in celebrating diversity, value inclusion, and center equity across all aspects of our work. 

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, enroll, assess, case manage, and job coach WIOA Participants in WIOA Program.
  • Present to other appropriate organizations information about the youth program to ensure the community is aware of the program and can make referrals of young adults when appropriate.
  • Participate in on-going training that will assist in enhancing the Youth Talent Advisor knowledge and skills in order to perform job functions.
  • Perform tasks and duties as assigned and approved by the Workforce Manager at SCBEC.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth and young adults.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar program with responsibilities of program development, tracking activities, outcomes and maintaining case files.
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable vehicle.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Database experience a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. in Education, Human Services or related field is preferred. However, experience may be substituted for education depending on relevance and verifiability.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to relate to people from various socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate benefits and goals of programs effectively to a wide variety of audiences, in both individual and group formats.
  • Ability to work within a team while maintaining high individual performance standards. Must have ability to organize and prioritize efforts.
  • Experience navigating unique characteristics of communities and working in various community settings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Strong reasoning ability to apply principles of logical thinking in a wide variety of practical problems.
