Position Summary:
As the Business Engagement Executive you’ ll have a unique opportunity to have a 360-degree view of the talent recruitment process. You’ ll lead the business to business relationship from start to finish as well as identify and match talent to the employer’ s needs. Our relationships may begin over the phone, but all are fortified in person both with the businesses we serve and the job candidates. Specializing in various types of roles including Manufacturing, Construction, Transportation/Distribution, Healthcare, Childcare and Tourism & Hospitality, you’ ll manage an existing book of businesses, but also engage new customers through B2B engagement to build that book to a new level. Principal Responsibilities:

The essential functions of the Business Engagement Executive aligns with the implementation of the "sector-ready" framework of career pathways and partnerships.

Marketing

  • Identify and personally meet with employers who are prospects for employability programs within the region to share services and resources available to them from WorkSource Oregon.
  • Educate and advocate for sector specific talent pipelines that will improve the region's economy and hope for family-sustaining income for generations to come.
  • Market work-based learning opportunities to employers including on-the-job training (OJT), work experience, internships, transitional jobs, Work Opportunity Tax Credit and apprenticeships as training paths to employment.
  • Develop and maintain an employer data base that identifies; primary contact, annual hires, positions available, and opportunities available for on-the-job training, work experience, paid and unpaid internships, job shadowing, and industry tours.
  • Promote lay-off aversion services, as necessary.

Talent Development

  • Identify strengths and developmental needs of the labor pool as compared to the job competency requirements (using tools like Provelt! or NCRC) 
  • Promote "sector-ready" career pathways that support a job-driven agenda and work-first approach which include shorter-term training options and stackable credentials that build on one another to facilitate quick entry and advancement with a seamless transition from one career steppingstone to another.
  • Review job orders to match applicants with job requirements, using manual and/or computerized file searches.
  • Coordinate pre-hiring testing services as requested by employers.
  • Review and prescreen employer applications completed by job seekers.
  • Maintain employment records and documentation as needed for OJT contracts.
  • Maintain full documentation of participants and their work-based learning activities monthly; assist with supportive services as deemed necessary

Networking

  • Make connections through the chambers, local economic development, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve workforce issues at a sectoral level.
  • Participate as needed in on and off-site job fairs, career day events, workshops, seminars and other employment related activities
  • Maintain existing business accounts while developing new accounts (particularly new business accounts in key industries)

Other

  • Participate on Rapid Response teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience and training which demonstrates the ability to support employers with their needs, objectives of growth and interests.
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Online Data Management programs.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity is a required qualification.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to relate to people from various socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate benefits and goals of programs effectively to a wide variety of audiences, in both individual and group formats.
  • Ability to work within a team while maintaining high individual performance standards. Must have ability to organize and prioritize efforts.
  • Be able to provide own transportation and attend occasional evening and/or out-of-town meetings (overnight travel may occasionally be required).
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of employment and training programs, especially Workforce Investment & Opportunity Act (WIOA).
  • Some experience in working in the business sector.
