Now is the time to join South Coast Business Employment Corporation in helping out seniors in the area by becoming a homebound meal driver. 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Picks up the meals for delivery from the preparation site; delivery of the home delivered meals to the elderly on prepared list; returns the meal carriers to the assigned location; reports the status of elderly on the assigned route and reports the number of meals needed for next delivery.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Under the direct supervision of the Bay Area Site Cook Manager.

TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK

1. Arrives at designated time to start the preparation to do meal delivery:

• Review of the delivery route list and check number of meals needed;
• Check carries for appropriate number of meals;
• Load the appropriate number of cold packs;
• Start the delivery of home delivered meals to the elderly on that routes list as indicated in the route notebook.

2. Delivery of the meals on the assigned route:

• Delivery of the proper dietary meals to the assigned homebound elderly;
• Meals cannot be left if the person is not at home unless a cooler is left out:
• Return carriers to the designed location

3. Report to the site staff:
   • Any difficulties (person not at home, person wants to stop the delivery of meals, etc);
   • Also report the number of meals needed for the next delivery.
4. Other tasks as assigned by the Cook Manager or Senior Services Manager.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to follow instructions, organize time and perform a variety of tasks.
2. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, preparation staff, and the elderly.
3. Ability to communicate effectively, either verbally and in writing.
4. Good physical health and personal grooming standards.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Experienced driver with a good driving record is required. Some record keeping/documentation experience is preferred.
