Now is the time to join one of the top non-profits of its size in Oregon as our new Program Director for the Bandon Community Child Care Center. 

Position Summary:

The Center Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education, for all children within the center’s care. The Center Director is directly accountable for overall operational management in accordance with well-established guidelines, including confirming lesson plans align with established curriculum, staff and facilities management, legal and budgetary considerations, and long range planning. The Center Director ensures that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately.

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Establish quality vision for the center. Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance with the vision and with state and local requirements. Maintain quality effectiveness measurements.
  • Develop general educational curriculum; collaborate with staff to develop positive learning activities; manage adherence to state and local regulations.
  • Maintain student records in accordance with established enrollment procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain communications with parents of current and prospective students through direct conversation, newsletters and parent handbook; implement community outreach activities to maintain and promote positive community relationships.
  • Manage and complete required reporting to the CACFP.  Approve menus and food purchases.
  • Manage and complete required reporting to funders.
  • Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies; ensure legal and financial compliance.
  • Oversee all office functions including monitoring and approving staff time in ADP, accounts payable and receivable, tuition billing and payment, human resources and personnel management (staff supervision) and purchasing of supplies.
  • Resolve conflicts (including corrective action when necessary) to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
  • Manage within budget constraints and provide input on budgetary planning.
  • Forecast and implement strategic plan and goals in keeping with the mission of the program.
  • Establish illness and emergency procedures; ensure staff is trained appropriately.
  • Maintain personal professional development plans for all staff, including self, to ensure continuous professional development.
  • Maintain and coordinate quarterly meetings of the BCCCC Advisory Committee and oversee sessions about child care issues, programming, celebrations and concerns for BCCCC.
  • Assume the role of teacher, when needed.
  • Be committed to and strive to achieve a minimum of a Step 4 in the Spark Program for the center, which includes being part of a Cohort group to work through the process.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in management and supervision of adults and knowledge of child development for children 0-5.
  • Must have at least 1 year of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable program.
  • Infant/child CPR, First Aid certification, and Food Handler’s Card, Foundations for Learning and OCC Safe Sleep Training for infants. (or ability to obtain)
  • OCC approved health and safety training (or ability to obtain)
  • Must clear full CBR background check including fingerprinting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; and technology skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High energy
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years old

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associates’ Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE.
  • 30 quarter hours or 20 semester hours in the area of Early Childhood Education or Child Development. OR
  • Documentation showing attainment/or enrollment in the Step 9 in the Oregon Registry System.
  • 3-5 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Strong finance and budgeting skills.

Commensurate with experience
