What will your job look like?
Our Communications Officer is tasked with promoting and training individuals on the utilization of public transportation. The Communications Officer will design and present one-on-one and group travel training for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, Veterans and other individuals, to prepare them to use fixed route services, including introduction to CCAT's bus system and scheduling mobile app, mobility device instruction, boarding and de-boarding, street crossing, safety skills and trip planning. The Communications Officer will also develop and maintain social media, the website, mobile app, and print efforts to enhance use and awareness of public transit services with Coos County Area Transportation District.  

This position is also the back-up scheduler/dispatcher.

Qualifications
  • Experience delivering in-person customer services to a diverse clientele.
  • Experience in communications, graphic design and photo editing.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite and preferably Adobe Creative Suite.
  • General understanding of public transportation, communications, marketing and social media.

Licensing, Certifications and Other Legal Requirements:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • This position works with vulnerable populations and a background check is required.
Preferred
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities and senior citizens. Experience working around service animals.
  • Coursework in training or instructional techniques, or one year of experience in training.
